Let’s talk supplies

I thought today it might be fun to discuss the supplies I use on a fairly regular basis.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored post, nor were any of these art supplies gifted to me by these brands. These are all my own opinions.

Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils - these are my favorite for adding linework and detail to any illustration, no matter the base medium. They are incredibly well pigmented and smooth to work with.

Strathmore Coldpress Watercolor Paper - my go-to used to be Canson watercolor paper, which I still enjoy working with, but this strathmore paper has been able to hold up to more layers and I’ve really enjoyed using it for my Christmas pieces this year.

Copic and Ohuhu Alcohol Based Markers - these are so much fun (and work so quickly!) Ohuhu has a better price point, but I find the nibs on the Copics to be better quality. Both have great colors and they work great together. (These I generally use in my sketchbook.)

Holbein Acrylic Gouache - I will admit that I do not use this medium extensively, but every time I work with these paints, they are fun. The colors are lovely and so smooth and the blend so nicely.

Windsor and Newton Cotman Watercolor Paints and Brushes - by far my favorite medium to work with. The colors are so easy to mix and these brushes work so well with the paints. It’s always a pleasure to paint with these.

Apple Barrel Matte White Acrylic Craft Paint - this paint is very cheap, but it works wonderfully for adding highlights, snow, and stars to my pieces. I prefer it to a white gel pen because there’s no nib to get clogged and it never absorbs the color below it in a piece.

Do you have any supplies that you absolutely love?
