My name is Emily Coverick. You may know me as Embemilie or Embemilie.illustrates on Instagram.

Here’s a little bit about me.

Since I could hold a crayon in my little fingers, I loved to draw. I always preferred blank paper to coloring sheets. I could draw a kidnapped princess who was rescued by her parents. I could draw a family of bears waiting for their father’s return from war. With a blank page, I could do anything.

One of my favorite things about illustrating is its ability to tell a story. That is my goal as an artist and illustrator. I want to ignite the imagination of the viewer, to involve them in the world of the story, and to inspire them to look deeper and discover new things.

I no longer use crayons to tell stories; instead, I illustrate mostly in watercolors and Adobe Photoshop. I try to work in the medium that will best fit the story that I’m telling or the project on which I am working. Whatever medium I choose to use, I incorporate the same level of detail and knowledge of design into the final illustration.

Thus far, I have been blessed to work on Nate the Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea by Christie McGuire and am looking to expand my body of work.
