A little about me

I know I shared about myself professionally, but I wanted to share some more about me personally and what motivates my life.

As you may have already seen, my name is Emily Coverick. I live in Northern California with my wonderful husband, Joshua, and our mischievous cat, Muse.

I grew up the middle of four sisters, the youngest two are twins. We played together growing up with our stuffed animals and Littlest Pet Shop. My older sister was always the master storyteller, making sure every game of pretend had some sort of plot to keep it interesting. We each have our own different creative skills. Even though we don’t all work in creative fields, we still love spending time being creative together.

My parents have always encouraged us to be lovers of learning, whether it was learning to paint, naming all the flowers in the garden, or working on algebraic equations. We read many books together growing up, and as we read, we would often add our own little bit of silly creative flair.

My life has been so blessed to always be sprinkled with some aspect of creativity. I believe that all humans have a desire to be creative in some way. Because we are made in the image of God, our Creator, we want to create to be like Him. This could be in the form of cooking, music making, problem solving, sculpting, painting, writing, etc.

I love to illustrate not only because I am made in God’s image but also to bring Him glory for all He has done for me. I am a Christian, meaning that I believe that I am a sinner, along with all mankind. I have fallen short of the glory of God. Instead of being holy as I was created to be, I was dead in my sins by choice and by nature. God being perfectly righteous and holy demands justice for my crimes against Him. I deserve death and Hell. But God being rich in mercy because of His great love, chose to send His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be make atonement in my place. Jesus, being fully God and fully man, lived the perfect life I could not live. He died the death I deserve, bearing God’s wrath on my behalf. He rose from the dead the third day, defeating sin and death. Through Christ I am forgiven and made clean. Because I believe, instead of receiving judgement, I receive reward. God no longer looks on me and sees my sin, He sees Jesus’ righteousness. He has adopted me into His family. I am no longer a slave to my sin, but I am a son of God. Because of this, I want to live a life that pleases Him. My obedience is not a condition of my salvation, but a result of it. This salvation is not for me exclusively, but it is a gift of God offered to all who believe. I pray that you believe as well.

I find it to be such an amazing gift that I can create in a way that brings glory to God. He gives us so many good gifts for us to enjoy. I am so grateful i can enjoy being creative.
